Join us for a champagne reception to meet the artist and see the show now up at Java John's.
Jeremiah Johnson is a multimedia artist who experiments with many media. Jeremiahs works on fabric include large scale decorative pieces for weddings, screenprinted and dyed apparel, and decorative wall hangings.
The pieces displayed here are the result of layering fiber reactive dyes into the fabric while binding and twisting between dye applications to create various effects. Jeremiah uses the Japanese binding technique Shibori to create stark contrast in color and a technique using ice to disperse the dyeresulting in soft colors and gradations.
Jeremiahs inspirations in creating these pieces are the naturally occurring designs in and on our planet as revealed through geology and ecology.
Jeremiah has also created work for The New Minowa Players and Edible Alien Theater stage productions and led classes at Arthaus.
