Always an Iowan, Lindsay grew up in Cedar Rapids, then moved his board game token to Iowa City, then to rural Clinton County before landing in Decorah in 1981. Once in Decorah he established Willowglen Nursery with his wife Lee Zieke and pretty much left the paints in their box for thirty years. Now, while still creating live landscapes for a few discerning clients, Lindsay is making time for his paint box once again.
Back by popular demand, Lindsay's work will be on display at Java John's for the month of November. Join us for a champagne reception to meet Lindsay and view his new work.
"My passion for painting landscapes in pastel comes from the marriage of my deep love for the picturesque countryside we live in and the hands-on tactile nature of the pastel medium. Painting with pastels is an absolutely direct experience. I see my subject, pick a color, make a mark. It is nothing but pure pigment, nothing to mix, no brushes, just fingers, eyes, chalk, and ground. Fantastic!"
